• Only 95th in the world to receive NAED recognition
• ‘This is our second accreditation, and it does make a difference’
Lifecom, the emergency medical and fire dispatch center in Stockton operated by American Medical Response Inc., has been granted a re-accreditation from the National Academies of Emergency Dispatch (NAED), AMR says.
This is Lifecom’s second accreditation and maintains its position as one of just 95 dispatch centers world wide to be recognized as an “accredited center of excellence,” says AMR.
A dispatch center can only be NAED accredited if the operation can meet all 20 points set forth in the accreditation review application, which includes emergency medical dispatch certification of all personnel, compliance with emergency medical dispatch standards, and implementation of a medical priority dispatch system, AMR says.
“We want people to know that when they call 911 for an emergency, they are getting the ‘gold standard’ of service. This is our second accreditation, and it does make a difference,” says Barry Elzig, general manager for both AMR San Joaquin County, and the Lifecom dispatch center.
The dispatch center provides service throughout San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties as an emergency medical dispatch center, a fire dispatch center, and a router to other agencies as needed.
American Medical Response Inc. is a subsidiary of Emergency Medical Services Corp. (NYSE: EMS) of Greenwood Village, Colo.
