• Gasoline output up 7 percent week over week
• Diesel production soars
California’s refineries opened their taps to both gasoline and diesel fuel production last week, the California Energy Commission says.
A total of 6,482,000 barrels of gasoline meeting the California Air Resources Board standards (CARB gasoline) was produced, up 7 percent from the week before but essentially flat with the same week in 2008.
Distillation of CARB diesel fuel soared 29.6 percent from the previous week to 2,002,000 barrels. The total was, however, 6.4 percent less than a year ago.
Refiners told the energy commission that they had 5,235,000 barrels of CARB gasoline in inventory on April 3, which was 4.8 percent more than the week before but 6.8 percent less than a year earlier.
There were 2,556,000 barrels of CARB diesel in stock at the state’s refineries, the commission says, 1.1 percent more than the previous week but 23.6 percent less than a year ago.
