• Open to those in foreclosure or having mortgage payment problems
One of the communities hardest hit by the foreclosure tidal wave – Mountain House, near Tracy -- is the location for a free foreclosure workshop hosted by U.S. Rep. Jerry McNerney, D-Pleasanton.
The session is set for Saturday, Aug. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bethany Elementary School and is hosted in conjunction with the Mountain House Community Services District.
It’s designed to provide information to families facing foreclosure or who are worried about making their mortgage payments.
HUD-certified counselors from ByDesign Financial Solutions and other agencies will be in attendance to offer financial counseling, advice and recommendations, the congressman’s office says.
Representatives from several mortgage companies, including Chase, Freddie Mac and Bank of America are also expected to be on hand to offer information.
The event is in a workshop format so those seeking help are encouraged to stop by at any point during the event. Also, attendees are encouraged to bring all relevant financial documents with them.
