The California Infrastructure and Economic Development Bank, better known by its nickname “I-Bank,” has approved a $1.5 million low-interest loan for Porterville’s Rocky Hill “reservoir” project, which is actually a giant water storage tank.
Construction of the 550,000 gallon storage tank project also includes installation of pipeline and related equipment.
The project, along with a series of other water system capital improvements currently underway, will facilitate delivery of water from its source in the western part of Porterville to the developing eastern area, I-Bank says.
The water tank will also provide sufficient emergency fire flow capacity in the eastern area of the city, it says. Construction is to begin in July and is expected to be completed by May 2011.
