VIDEO: Helping businesses grow with a stronger STEM

Business leaders say they need workers coming out of school with a higher level of competence in science, technology, engineering and math – the so-called “STEM” courses.

While some businesses, such as Chevron in Kern County, are backing that call with money to support STEM education, other schools, like Stockton’s Edison High School, are addressing the issue without the big checks -- but with motivated teachers.

The California Teacher Corps is a nonprofit organization established three years ago with the goal of placing 100,000 highly-qualified teachers in California’s schools by 2020.
