• But a Million in funny money can be very serious business indeed
• ‘One of the most unique, interactive, loud, fun, boisterous and networking events’
The Securities and Exchange Commission probably shouldn’t worry, but there will be all the shouting and flailing of arms common to a stock exchange for at least a few hours in Clovis in October.
That’s when the Central Valley Business Incubator sponsors the annual Central Valley Stock Exchange as a way to promote small businesses in the region.
“The goal is to really celebrate entrepreneurship, innovation and the importance of supporting small business,” says Barbara Rodiek, chief operating officer of the Central Valley Business Incubator.
“The Central Valley Stock Exchange is one of the most unique, interactive, loud, fun, boisterous and networking events that is held annually in the Valley,” she says.
The one-day event features Small Business University, where entrepreneurs can learn essential information for starting and sustain a business and then the Central Valley Stock Exchange fires up, showcasing local entrepreneurs attempting to gain investors by “selling” their product on the Central Valley Stock Exchange “floor.” Ticket holders will be given “CVBI bucks” which they will use to invest into the product they support most.

The stock exchange wraps up with a wine dinner to announce winners. The event is scheduled for the Clovis Veterans Memorial Hall on Oct. 10.
