Members of Congress need to put the election behind them and take action on the bipartisan Farm Bill when they return to work next week says rep. Jim Costa, D-Fresno, who was reelected Tuesday.
“The campaign is over, and it’s time to get to work for our nation’s dairymen, farmers, and producers. While many in Washington were obsessing over election messaging, these groups have reiterated again and again that they need a Farm Bill,” Mr. Costa says. “We had overwhelming bipartisan support in committee, and we will have the votes on the floor. The time for politicking is over; it’s time for smart policymaking that puts the nation first.”
He a new Farm Bill is the only effective way to address issues ranging from crop insurance to reforming the Federal Milk Marketing Order.
“Now, more than ever, our dairymen, farmers and ranchers need the certainly that only a five-year Farm Bill can provide,” he says.
