• JD Food moves into new 65,000 square-foot plant
• “Our new state-of-the-art facility could not be located in a more ideal location”
Independent, family-owned food distributor JD Food has officially opened its new 65,000 square-foot distribution center in Southeast Fresno, part of what is says is a multi-phase expansion plan that will add more than 144 employees, bringing its total workforce to 288 employees by 2025.
Over the past six years, the company has tripled in size. It says it expects to continue that growth by putting its attention on growing its client base and signature locally-owned, farm to table food sourcing.
The expansion also accommodates the growth of its affiliated company, Certified Meat Products, by allowing it to expand into the existing 52,000 sq. ft. processing and distribution center also located in Southeast Fresno.
“Our new state-of-the-art facility could not be located in a more ideal location for distributing to California and offers our team the added space needed to nurture and grow our existing customer base,” says Mark Ford, president of JD Food, now in its third generation of family ownership.
The new distribution center features state-of-the-art technologies for climate control, docking systems and energy-efficient power systems. Additionally, JD Food has acquired Print District, which will operate out of the new facility to provide graphic design and printing needs exclusively for JD Food clients.
JD Food is a third generation, family-owned and operated company led by the Maxey and Ford families.
