Sac State football Hornets can now say “beer here”
September 8, 2017
• Beer sales come to home football games
• Starts with home game against Incarnate Word
The University of the Incarnate Word's football team last week helped kicked off the season – and home game beer sales – for the Fresno State Bulldogs. This Saturday evening, they'll do the same for the Sacramento State Hornets.
Beer will be sold at Hornet Stadium during Sacramento State football games for the 2017 season, starting Saturday, September 9, the university says.
A beer garden will be near Gate 4, at the south end of the stadium near Broad Field House.
Beer will be sold only to those who are 21 years of age or older and who have valid ids.
There will be three local craft beers available each game as well as aluminum bottles of Coors, Coors Light, Heineken and Blue Moon. Domestic beer will cost $7, premium-craft $8. Purchases will be limited to two beers per order.
Part of the beer sales revenue will go to provide appropriate security at games and may be used to support alcohol education and sexual assault education programming through the University’s Student Affairs, according to the President’s Office.
“We strive to continue to enhance the experience for our fans at Hornet football games and this is the next step,” says Athletic Director Mark Orr. “We encourage everyone to have fun and remain responsible while supporting the Hornets throughout the year.”
The Incarnate Word Cardinals may be hoping for a somewhat different outcome when they play the Hornets. The Fresno State Bulldogs steamrolled them 66-0.
