Enloe Medical Center in Chico is being investigated by the state Department of Public Health after a July 31 incident involving a patient and a mis-adjusted intravenous feed.
The error involved a medication that was administered at a rate greater than what was ordered, the hospital says.
The error was reported by the hospital and the state began its investigation. Based on the medication error, investigators reviewed four “Conditions of Participation” that the medical center must meet as required by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
The medical center was found to be out of compliance in four areas: governing body; nursing services; quality assurance and pharmaceutical services, the hospital says.
The patient who had too much intravenous fluid pumped is in stable condition, the hospital says.
