•  Will create 250 jobs building new facility

•  ‘We desperately need good initiatives that will generate growth and bring new jobs’

A new fueling and bus washing facility will be built as part of a new administrative and maintenance facility to consolidate operations of the San Joaquin Regional Transit District thanks to a $8.5 million grant from the Federal Transit Administration, says Rep. Jerry McNerney, D-Pleasanton.

The money will create 250 jobs in San Joaquin County.

“I was happy to advocate for the RTD to get this grant money, as we desperately need good initiatives that will generate growth and bring new jobs,” says Mr. McNerney. “The news that this money will bring 250 jobs to San Joaquin County couldn’t come at a better time. That will make a huge difference in our community.”

The Regional Transportation Center will eventually include a 91,000 square foot maintenance facility and a 36,000 square foot operations building. The funding comes from the FTA’s Good Repair Bus and Bus Facilities Program.
