California American Water is buying Hillview Water Company

•  Adds about 1,500 customers

California American Water says it is buying the operating assets of Hillview Water Company and will assume the provision of water service within the Hillview Water Company service area between Oakhurst and Raymond.

Financial terms of the deal were not made public.

Hillview Water Company, which consists of approximately 1,500 metered customer connections, is located 67 miles from California American Water’s Meadowbrook service area in Merced. The purchase of the system in combination with the Meadowbrook service area will double California American Water’s customer base in the Central Valley to more than 3,100 customers.

California American Water currently supplies water service to nearly 600,000 California customers, about one-third of which are in the Central Valley. It is a subsidiary of American Water (NYSE: AWK).
